Caleb Messinger '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Caleb Messinger.  I am eager to realize my dream of playing college baseball and earning a degree as a student athlete. 

I am a hard working individual, on and off of the baseball field. In the classroom I give max effort and always get the job done. On the diamond, I play with intensity and focus always giving it my all.  

Here is a little information about myself:  I have been playing baseball since I have been 5 years old, and year round with tournament and travel teams for the last four years.  I am the starting 3rd baseman for Easton Area High school-a 4A high school. I am the starting catcher for my travel team-Lehigh Valley Prospects. 

I come from a strong family background that has 3 generations of U.S. Marines and law enforcement.  I consider my upbringing disciplined and centered around the saying "hard work equals success." 

I have asked my coaches to provide my best assets so that I can share-he said I am "tough as nails behind the plate and shut down the run game almost completely back there."  He went on to say my arm strength and power hitting are also my best attributes. 

I strive to let my play on the field do the talking, and otherwise am a quiet leader on my teams.  My coaches allow me to call my own games from behind the plate, and entrust me to control the pace of the game. 

I'd like to add that I hit the weight room hard every day, and have gained 12 pounds of muscle since the end of the spring season.  I still maintain my speed as on of the fastest players on both my high school varsity team and travel team.
