Personal Statement
I am a National Honor Society student, with a GPA of 3.7. My college goals are to be involved in hands-on learning that will lead me to a career in engineering, with an emphasis in sustainability (solar, wind, etc). I would also love to play baseball! I play mainly middle infield, but also enjoy outfield. At second, I am quick to the bag and take pride in holding runners on base by being an active baseman. I enjoy the strategy involved in playing an active middle infield, ready for a throw down or turning a double. At the plate, I am a contact hitter with a solid batting average. I regularly hit for doubles and my speed allows me to reliably steal bases, whether on my own hits or as a courtesy runner. I'm highly coachable - always open to refining and improving. I keep my head and stay upbeat on the field and in the dugout.

- Future Stars Kickoff Classic - Hershey PA. Team was 2:2 on games. Joe went 5 runs, 2RBIs, .625 on base %, .200 batting avg including a 2-RBI single. He went 750 fielding % at second base (including turning a double play). Joe went 1.000 fielding % in right field, catching out 7 of 7 hits. He got 3 walks in 8 at-bats.
- 2013 Millheim Small Engine (Penns Valley Teener League)
- Joe batted 7/24 (avg: .292). His on base percentage was 17/34 (avg: .531). As batter #1 he was expected to be able to work a full count while keeping a cool head. He walked 9 times and only struck out twice. Once on base, Joe puts his speed to work, setting a team record with four stolen bases in a single game..
- 2013 Penns Valley 15-16 VFW Teener (15-16 yr olds)
- Penns Valley 15-16 All Stars were District 5 Runner Ups after the June-July season and participated in the VFW Teener League State Tournament in August 2013. This was the first time in history that a Penns Valley team made it to States. Opening game was a blow out with Penns Valley trouncing top-seeded Altoona 18-3. Game was called in the fourth inning as part of the Mercy rule. Penns Valley ended up placing 5th in the State. As an underclassman, Joe got limited playing time, but did spend some time at second base where he made an out, and went 1-1 in the batting box.

- Joe attended Bucknell's baseball camp in July 2013. In the 4 days (8 games) of camp, Joe batted 7 for 10 (.700). His team went 'Camp Champs' being undefeated through the week and winning the championship exhibition game on the final day. Joe played second base - fielding stats were not recorded.

- Joe is working with a batting coach through fall of 2013, and enjoying the coach's fresh perspective on the metal approach and body mechanics of batting. Using the coach's advice and a few new tips, Joe batted .700 at Bucknell University's baseball camp. Joe is a very coachable player with an easy-going attitude and a willingness to learn.
