At 7 years old, my friend and I shook hands...I promised to play baseball with him; and he promised to play football with me. As soon as I took step onto the baseball field, I knew that is where I always want to be! I knew at that moment that baseball was my sport! At 9 years old, I knew I wanted to play high school ball and then play at the collegiate level too which meant I had to work hard in order to reach my goals. Playing ball through the years has taught me many lessons that I use in school and life. It has taught me that hard work pays off, stay focused and persevere always, have determination, motivation and fun even on bad days, be a leader on and off the field, stay positive, and be dedicated to taking care of my body physically and mentally. Baseball has given me a lot on confidence in myself that I can do anything if I put my mind to it.
I am a hard worker dedicated and willing to become a better student athlete every day. I am a team player who leads by example on and off the field. I am very coachable and open to hear feedback from coaches and fellow teammates to improve my skills. I am a leader always. I am self-motivated during and off season. I set goals for myself. I plan to work; then work my plan. I am one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find both on the field and at my academics.
About a year ago, I started throwing for our high school track and field team. I worked hard on the field and in the gym to learn the techniques for weight throwing for Indoor Track and hammer throwing for Outdoor Track. I also throw the shotput and discus. Last spring, my junior year, I played two varsity sports, Baseball and Outdoor Track. I excelled in both sports. I was named to the Rhode Island Division 1 All Division Second Team for baseball. For track, I qualified for New Balance Nationals which took place in June 2023. At that event, I threw an 11-foot PR of 172' to win the title of 2023 New Balance Rising Stars National Champion.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA, currently at 4.87 taking both Honor and AP classes. My SAT score is 1320. I am involved with the Coventry High School Unified Oakers spreading the word of inclusion. Besides baseball and throwing, I play on the CHS Unified Volleyball Team and throw for the CHS Indoor Track & Field team and Outdoor Track & Field team. I have volunteered many years with Easter Seals Rhode Island to raise money for local programs and camps for kids with disabilities. I also volunteer at local baseball organizations working with young catchers on their skills and training. I am a past class officer (Vice President my Freshman year and Secretary my Sophomore year). I am currently on the Executive Board for the CHS Unified Oakers as Vice President. I work at our town basketball league games to keep score and work the clock on Saturdays and will take extra shifts if available during the week.
I want to attend a college where I can excel in the classroom for my future career in Secondary Education - Mathematics and Kinesiology/Exercise Science while playing a collegiate level sport. I am open to all options and determined to find the right college match. I look forward to the opportunities ahead of me and to continue to play sports.
I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Columbia University to continue my academic and track & field career. Thank you to Coach Cleary and Columbia University for this amazing opportunity. Thank you to Coach Mike, Coach Ashley, my teachers, teammates, and family for supporting me along the way! Roar Lion Roar!
