My name is Andrew Helfenstein and I go to St. Georges Independent School. My goal is to play college baseball at the highest level possible while still receiving a first-class education. Through my first two years of high school, I have maintained a 4.57 GPA and have continued to grow as a student as well as a ballplayer. I pride myself on always working my hardest in everything that I do. Whether it is on the field, in the weight room, or in the classroom, I am always striving for perfection.
Ever since I was 3, baseball has been my favorite sport. My love for the game comes from countless hours outside throwing the ball with my dad and my older brother. Ever since then I have had a love for the game that has never dwindled. As I am beginning my college search process I want to find a school where I can continue to bring my passion and love of the game to the field. As a player, my most valuable asset is my speed. I ran a 6.56 60 yard dash last summer in the prospect wire elite 100 showcase event in Nashville and a 6.61 60 with a laser at a perfect game showcase this fall. I know that I would be a valuable addition to any team because of my work ethic and leadership abilities.
Aside from baseball, my other passion is learning and specifically math. I have always been a great student in every subject but I have a gift for math. I have always challenged myself to achieve nothing less than perfection in my math studies. Last year as a sophomore I received a final grade of 100% in my pre-calculus class which goes to show when I put my mind to something there is nothing that I can't accomplish. While in college I hope to use my passion to set myself up for life after baseball with a career in engineering or some other math-related career.
