Garrett Stiltner '18 Recruiting Profile

     The biggest turning point in my high school career occurred during my junior season. In one outing I pitched six shutout-extra innings in what ended up being a 16 inning game against the team which would go on to win the state 6A title in North Carolina. In another outing, not long after, I gave up four runs against a poor team in our division. My season had several ups and downs, but gave me the confidence I can compete at the collegiate level because I learned how to not overthrow or be too perfect. My strength on the mound has never come from blowing hitters off the plate, instead consistently, with all my pitches, hitting my spots. Over the course of my senior summer I've pitched consistent and experienced extremely good outings. Another thing giving me confidence I can play at the collegiate level is my size; I already throw with good velocity and hit with solid power at the plate and will only gain as I finish growing in my first couple years of college. I am a late bloomer and am expected to continue growing past high school. In addition to baseball I also wrestle, which helps with my conditioning, strength, endurance, and mental toughness. I believe this provides me with an edge over my competitors. Both baseball, and wrestling, have taught me work ethic, and I believe significantly helped me in situations like I described above.
