Very simply, I want to play baseball at the collegiate level at a university where I will receive an outstanding education. I love baseball but academics are a crucial part of my future and I want to attend a college where both elements will meet my expectations.
Athletics: I have been a varsity letterman in baseball every year of high school. I started every varsity game at second base my freshman year, every game as shortstop my sophomore year, and every game my junior year as starting pitcher on Tuesday and shortstop on Friday. Baseball is my only varsity sport but I also enjoy golf and being outdoors - if I'm not in school or on the diamond you'll find me in a deer stand, duck blind, or with a fishing pole in my hand.
Academics: I currently am number 11 in my class and have a 4.0 GPA (taking many AP and weighted GPA classes). I am a National Honor Society member, student council member, and student mentor program mentor.
Baseball: I take pride in my versatility as a player. I love to pitch, love to play shortstop, love to play outfield. Honestly, I will play any position you need. I am currently the top hitter on my team with a .500 batting average and am top in OBP at .558. My current OPS is 1.145 and I am third on the team in RBI. I have made one error this season and my fielding percentage is .958 with most of my time split between short and outfield. I tend to hit for average as opposed to power. I am a singles machine and can hit the ball to any field. I am a good bunter and very good base runner. I am one of the top pitchers on my team, leading in wins and top 3 in era. My fastball sits in the low 80's, but with very good movement. I have excellent off-speed material and can throw multiple pitches for a strike. I just want to be on the field - I will give you my best at any position you ask me to play.
Personal: My base and core is set in my faith and my family. I have been a professed Christian since age 8. My family is tremendous and supportive. My dad Chad is a former Army officer and is an insurance company executive. My mom Lisa owns her own dog breeding and training business. My oldest brother Zach was our high school valedictorian and graduated from the University of Texas in 3.5 years and now works in corporate finance at Nestle. My middle brother Aaron was number 7 in his high school class and is getting ready to start his senior year at the United States Military Academy at West Point. We are an extremely close family who loves each other but holds each other accountable. Faith, love, hard work, earning what you get, doing unto others, and being a person of character all mean the world to me. I strive to bring all of these to the baseball field each and every day.
