Personal Statement

I am looking to move on to the next phase of my life with a strong start. I am interested in Sports Journalism to compliment my extreme love of sports in general. I have been a three sport athlete up to my junior year. I am dropping down to two sports so I can spend the fall building my baseball skills to achieve my goal of playing and thriving in college baseball. In me you will find a coachable athlete who puts in the work to get better every day. My goal for senior year is to bring my velocity up to 93 and keep control strong. I believe I will be an asset to any team I decide to join for college ball.

2022 NORTHEAST PROSPECT SHOWCASE (TUES-WED) Thomas Mangieri is a 2023 RHP/ with a 6-5 220 lb. frame from Quechee, VT who attends U-32 High School (Uhsd #32). Extra-Large frame with broad shoulders and some lower half strength present. Recorded a 7.61 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Deliberate pace with coiled leg lift and medium stride length down the slope. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for most of his outing and topped out at 79 mph from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with some arm-side life to his fastball, mixed in a slower 11-5 shaped curveball as his secondary option and will continue to add velocity as he physically matures. Secondary first baseman with deliberate footwork into and throughout the fielding process. Uses deeper funnel to field with slight waist bend, some range and accurate throws across the diamond. Recorded arm strength up to 78 mph across the diamond during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and a toe-tap trigger. Elongated swing path with developing bat-to-ball skills and mostly middle-of-the field contact. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and mechanical refinements defensively.
