Personal Statement

Hi my name is Evan Leese  and I currently play baseball for Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA, as a sophomore.  My goals are to play baseball on a college team, have at least a 3.7 GPA through college, and continue to grow as a baseball player.  I believe I am an excellent candidate for a college team because I can play every position on the field, am a great teammate, and I am able to learn new skills quickly.

What makes me different from other recruits is that my team can rely on me to get them out of a tough situation both mentally and physically.  As the son of an active duty Navy officer, I have had to move seven times in 15 years.  That has taught me how to adapt to new circumstances, new teams and teammates, and different cultures throughout my life (I lived in Beijing, China for three years and Yokosuka, Japan for two).  I feel as though I have translated all of those experiences into being calm, focused, and successful in any circumstance, especially while on the baseball field.
