I fell in love with the game of baseball all the way back when I first started playing tee-ball. I always loved competing out on the baseball field and giving it my very best.
Soon after playing little league in my home town, I realized I wanted to compete at a higher level. When it came time for the summer of my 4th grade year, I started playing travel baseball with a local team. Our team often got blown out in different tournaments. But that wasn’t going to stop me from playing the game I love. I feel like going through those years without winning pushed me to bring out the best in myself on and off the field.
In 7th grade I was still playing for that same team. We had continued to get better each and every year, and now we were starting to win some games. When it came time for our first game, I was warming up in the bullpen when my arm started to hurt. After throwing only about a half dozen pitches I realized I wasn’t able to throw. The next day we went to the doctor and he suggested I get an x-ray on my shoulder. Turns out I fractured the growth plate in my shoulder (Proximal Humeral Epiphysitis). I was unable to throw a ball that entire summer. But I started to learn the throw left handed in hopes of playing a little in the field. I ended up playing a couple games left handed at 1st and 2nd base in my local youth league.
Ever since that experience I’ve continued to grow as a player and have played through the American Legion program and at my high school. I have set a goal in my life to play baseball at the collegiate level. I’m open to playing at any level and want to achieve this goal.
I’m constantly doing everything I can to make my goal a reality. I throw often throw with my brother during the off-season. As well as umpire little league during when I have time. I feel that umpiring has been very beneficial in my development as a player, as I see the game from a different perspective and help better my understanding of the game.
