  • Simon is an athletic RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed range of 70-75 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Simon has potential and will get looks from the college coaches as he continues to progress his game.

  • BAR Results- 60: 7.39 30: 3.98 Broad Jump: 93inches L-Drill: 8.38 Med Ball: 45ft Overall these scores are positive. Once piece of the evaluation to look at is the similarities between the scores from 2019 and 2020. As players grow and mature we like to see growth in these areas. I would highly encourage you to begin a regimented strength and speed program 3-4 times per week. Adding increased strength and flexibility can really improve your game at all levels. There are ample resources online that provide baseball specific workouts, but if you have any questions regarding those, please let me know. Defense- You do a good job of maintaining a strong, wide base prior to fielding the baseball. A key focus moving forward is increasing your footspeed and agility. One of the best tools an infielder can have is the ability to get their body in the best position to field the baseball. As I mentioned above, getting involved in an agility program is a big piece of moving forward. Furthermore, a secondary piece is keeping your feet in rhythm to transfer into your throw. Work to maintain a low base and work through the baseball in the direction of your throw in order to maintain momentum. Currently, your feet stop a bit and you have to rework momentum after fielding. Offense- You start your swing with a good, athletic position. From here, I believe there are two key focal points moving forward to help improve the mechanics and results of your swing. The first focal point is gaining some linear momentum in your swing. At present, you have a solid load but then the energy you create is stuck on the backside. You should be able to see your body move forward a least a couple inches towards the pitcher. This should allow us to move forward linearly and then stop that momentum in order to create a strong rotation. Some really great players to watch do this are Bryce Harper and Josh Donaldson. The next piece is adding some additional rotational strength. This will come with growth and hard work in the gym. When our core is strong, it allows us to keep the bat in the zone longer on a better plane.
