I started gymnastics when I was 6 years old. I tried baton first however, the coach told my mom it was too slow for me and I was bored in class. They felt like I needed something more challenging and fast paced because I couldn't be still. I took my first gymnastics class in first grade and I loved it from the moment I started. I tumbled everywhere I went even down the isle of the store. Within 6 months I was asked to join the level 2 team for cheer and gymnastics. I went with gymnastics at the time. In 2018 I qualified for the state team (they pick the top 10 highest scoring athletes) to represent the State of Alabama at Regionals. Unfortunately, my coach scratched me from the team due to the competition being so far away. I was very disappointed but kept working hard. I competed up through the end of my Freshman year at level 7 but had mastered most of the level 8 skills. I have continued to grow in my tumbling skills since. I moved over to cheer my Sophomore year. I cheer for Elmore County High School and Bama Blaze All-Star Cheer. I am a base and one of the main tumblers but have also been working on some flying skills as well. My passion is tumbling. Flying across that floor brings me joy. I worked hard all of these years with practices 4-5 days a week several hours a day. It hasn't always easy, but I enjoyed the sport and always gave it my all. I even tried soccer this year and we were the first team at our school in 10 years to make it area champs.
I am still unsure what I would like to major in at college however, I am leaning towards something in exercise/nutrition. Even though I do not know exactly what my major will be, I do know I'm not ready for my athletic/tumbling days to be over. I am hoping to find a school I love and that will have a cheer or tumbling team that I will love as well. A scholarship for athletics would definitely be great too.
