Hi. My name is Alexis McKinstry. I've been an all star cheerleader for 13 years and this will be my 4th season of Varsity sideline and competition cheer for high school. My collegiate goals and aspirations is to be the best addition to a cheer team I can be. I always strive to go above and beyond. At the same time I want to excel in college and prepare myself for a fulfilling future. I've always thought of goals and aspirations in more of a general way to be successful; to work hard, to get good grades, be nice to people and work hard at cheer. I really want to find a college where I can fit in as the missing piece of the puzzle, and then I can be the glue that holds the puzzle together. I want to find a place where I can adapt and learn and truly integrate with the student population. I want to push myself to be a better athlete and a better student and have fun doing so. College will be so much more than just about learning. It will be about exploring a whole new world for me. It will be place to not only succeed, but to also fail and to learn from those failures. What makes me a good candidate for any cheer team is my work ethic. I always put cheer first. My studies are very important to me as well, but I've learned a great deal about balance. I know the meaning of commitment and how important it is to be present and ready to work at each practice. I am a leader and like to lead our team to be the best they can be. Whatever my job, my position, I take it to heart and give it 150% every single day. I may differ from other recruits as I am a consistently strong, great team player. I look at the team as a team and not an "I." I think about how I personally can contribute, but ultimately we are a team and must all work cohesively together. I also like to make people laugh. I am a very strong elite athlete and can be moved around to different positions and succeed. I also understand time management and can balance my academics with my sport; and so far, have learned to excel in both areas. Most of all, I love to be a role model for younger athletes. I have been able to use my social media presence for good and for inspiring and supporting younger girls. I cannot wait to carry that responsibility and honor with me to college.
