While many athletes love their sport, I see myself inseparable from cheer. Even with all the late practices and weekend long competitions, I would get home and my first priority would be to reflect and improve. Cheer wasn't something my parents or anyone in my life pushed for me to participate in, it was something I fell in love with at a very young age and pursued with all my heart. In my free time, I can be found stretching, creating or learning new routines and teaching myself new skills, which has supported me in being able to successfully compete as a flyer, base and back spot.
Teammates, coaches and families at the cheer gym have become my family. I have overcome hardships and obstacles that I see as opportunities to inspire future athletes to adapt and persevere in their sport. Through injuries and personal losses, I always found a way to focus on healing and using those experiences to grow. Cheer isn't just a sport to me, it is an encouraging way of life. Cheer has without a doubt shaped who I am as a confident, compassionate, purposeful and disciplined individual. When I felt like there was nothing going right in my life, I always had cheer to remind me of just how valuable life is and the potential my future holds.
