As a young kid in grade school, I was not very involved in sports. I mainly focused on academics. My eighth grade year, I decided to branch out and tryout for my schools dance team, the PLHS Varsity Blues (on Facebook). To my surprise, I made the team. I was very self conscious so this was very different to me. I hadn’t done anything in this nature before. I did find that it came easier to me than most sports we did in gym class. I didn’t realize just how much I enjoyed it until I first stepped out into the Friday night lights. It was in that moment I decided thats what I wanted to do. However, my freshman year, our coach was not very hands on. I realized that maybe my dream could not be accomplished. But then my Sophomore year, we got a dance coach who had danced before. She had us doing things I never believed I could do. So I believe I would be a good dance team candidate because I am hardworking and dedicated. Most of the things I can do have been self taught in my bedroom late at night. I have never danced in an actual studio, but I can usually learn skills pretty fast if someone teaches it to me. I know that some people have been doing this their whole life so I practice ten times harder to be able to keep up. I am also very reliable. If I say I’m going to do something, you can count on me to do it. I’ve also learned since I was young grades are important so I will always have high expectations for class as well. But most of all, I am determined and passionate. You will not find someone as dedicated and hard working as I am. I will keep trying and will never quit. I hope to be able to continue my dance journey after high school!
