I have been passionate about cheer since I was 8 years old, when I left gymnastics to compete with a local All-Star cheer team. Through All-Star cheer, I learned how to adapt to a very strict training regimen in which I dedicated 3 hours a day of practice, 4 days a week in addition to my schooling. I learned advanced tumbling skills that I was later able to apply to my middle school and high school cheer teams as well. Cheerleading has taught me teamwork and strong work ethic. If one fails, we all fail and if we succeed…we ALL succeed. Failure was hard to accept at times but it also helped me know what it feels like and to learn from mistakes and work to always be better and never settle. In high school, I made the Varsity team as a freshman and attended various cheer and stunting camps. We placed 5th in the state of MI after not having made it to state since 2016. In my off-season, I compete in track and field where, as a freshman, competed at state finals for two events, where I was awarded All-State and Academic All-State. During off-seasons, I continued training in both tumbling and track to stay flexible and at my optimum level of performance at all times. I am very competitive and I love giving it my all! I am kind, compassionate, and caring and find joy in helping my teammates reach their goals as well. This year, I’ve taken our freshman cheerleader under my wing and have taught her how to do backhand springs and we are now working on helping her get her tuck. When she achieves her goals, our whole team wins! I hope to continue cheer at the collegiate level. I’ve learned my full and my front punch this year and can’t wait to take perfect them and move on to even higher level skills.
