Hi, my name is Julianna Jordao and I am from South Plainfield, NJ. I am currently a junior at South Plainfield High School where I have taken many honors classes and an AP course. I am a part of numerous clubs and I am a 3 season student-athlete. This is now my third year on the South Plainfield High School Varsity Cheerleading Team as well as the varsity bowling and track and field teams.
My passion for cheerleading began 13 years ago at just 5 years old! I started on South Plainfield’s youth recreation team and worked my way up through their competition teams. I have competed in many local and international competitions including Yacada Globals in Atlantic City, NJ and Pop Warner Cheer & Dance Nationals in Orlando, FL.
For those who really know, cheerleading to me is not just about stunts or pom-poms; it's about spreading joy, inspiring others, and building relationships. My dad passed away in the summer of 2017, two weeks after my 9th birthday. He was one of my biggest supporters and when cheer season came around in the fall it was extremely hard to not have him there. My coaches and teammates have been the ones who kept me going and pushed me to become not only a better athlete but also a better person. Cheer quickly became an outlet for me to express and find strength within myself. I also discovered the true meaning behind both physical and mental resilience.
Now at 16 years old, I have a few goals leading up to the future . Academically, I want to have a 4.0 GPA and pass my AP exam. Athletically, I want to work on improving my tumbling skills so they can qualify at a higher level. Additionally, I would like to take on leadership roles such as being captain of my high school teams. And personally, I want to work on being more confident in myself and having better time management skills through a busy schedule. For college, I would like to pursue a degree in special education in honor of my brother who has PDD and autism. I also have dreamed to be on a college cheer team that is supportive and can help me grow! I believe I am a good fit for many teams because I am a hard worker, responsible, honest, creative and always ready to improve myself. I have made some of the best memories while cheering so I really hope to continue making those memories in college!
