I started cheering when I was 5 years old for Pop Warner. I wanted to do gymnastics too so my parents let me do both. I kept doing gymnastics while I cheered and made it to level 7 in that. I’d switched to rec cheer for awhile because it was easier with my gymnastics. My 6th grade year I switched back to Pop Warner because it was more competitive. I continued with Pop Warner through 8th grade, that’s the year our team went undefeated and got first place at nationals. The end of my 8th grade year was Covid but I decided i wanted to try All Star cheer. I tried out and made a level 4 senior team. I didn’t get the full experience because competitions were all virtual. During that time I also ended up having 2 elbow surgeries and wasn’t cleared until January of 2021 but I still went to every practice during that time. I got cleared just in time to get to compete at Summit in Orlando. I also cheered for my HS freshman cheer team that year. My sophomore year I made the varsity cheer team at my HS for sideline and competition so I took a year off from competing all star. I then tried out for all star again the spring of my sophomore team and made a senior level 5 team. My junior year I did all star and HS varsity sideline and competition. Because of my all star schedule though I wasn’t able to complete my HS competition season but I still went to all the practices. For my senior year I decided to not do all star so I can compete with my HS competition team since I missed out on it last year. This will also allow me more time to attend college clinics at the schools I’d like to attend. All in all I just love cheer. I spend a lot of my free time learning new skills on my own, getting stronger, and working on my flexibility. I’m currently looking at all girl teams but would love to stunt coed as well.
