I consider myself a very coachable athlete, I am extremely hardworking, dedicated to my team and teammates, and am always going above and beyond what is asked of me. I always offered to stay late, even after long days of school and practices to help teach the members who were struggling, the chants. I’d come an hour earlier then needed, to run through the rally’s and halftime dances to make sure everyone felt confident upon performance. I did anything I could to make everyone’s experience just as great as mine had been.
I believe that my dedication, commitment, and passion for cheerleading sets me apart from the other recruits, along with my diversity with different sports. I have 7 years of competitive dance and acrobatic experience, with 5 years of cheer experience. I feel like this makes me a very well rounded leader as I have been a part of a team with many different personalities and worked with coaches at each of these levels. I always jumped into different and newer stunts last minute because of missing people, I always offered to move spots so others didn’t have to run from one side of the court to another in an 8 count in a routine, even though it made me run even further. I always offered to change ripples and sides, even the day of performances, completely learning new parts, so that others didn’t have to when we needed to re-block spacing.
Along with that, cheerleading has been what’s pushed me to become a leader. In addition to coaches, the leadership on the team was largely based off of the individuals willing to lead the team, and fortunately, I found myself taking on a this leadership role which has provided me with priceless leadership experiences. It became my job to motivate the team, support them. provide constructive criticism, and redirect the focus when they became distracted.
In high school I was on Junior Varsity for football and basketball my freshman year, and had the honor of being on varsity for the remaining 3 years, holding the position as captain for basketball, my senior year.
My dream is to cheer in college, as it’s become such an important part of who I am, and I can’t imagine my life without it. I love cheering on my teams and bringing the spirit of my school to the fans, it’s such an amazing feeling!
I plan to major in hospitality, tourism, event planning management, or hospitality law. I hope to stay in state, but if recruited to a school out of state, if I receive a good amount of scholarships, I would happily consider it.
I am a good student who is able to keep my grades up with sports such as cheer and track, on top of working part time, and being involved in a large amount of clubs and organizations my school has to offer.
I love to work and become better at just about everything and anything even if there seems to be no room for improvement. I don’t let myself quit, and I push myself until I’ve reached my goal, and met the expectations of my coaches and teachers.
There is no stopping me, my dedication is irreplaceable, and through cheerleading I’ve been taught the most important lesson, that winners are not people who never fail, but people who never quit.
Thank You!
