Mattie Atkinson '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Mattie Grace Atkinson and a junior at Collierville High School. I'm a flyer on Collierville High School Varsity Cheer and have done cheerleading and gymnastics since I was able to walk. I stopped doing gymnastics to focus on cheer in 5th grade when I joined Memphis Pride for a year. After that, I focused on competitive school cheerleading. I now balance school, cheer, and a part time job.  I am also part of the NSHSS. It is an honorary organization for students performing at a high academic level. Out of everything I'm involved in, cheerleading is the activity that brings me the most joy. The amount of love and passion I have for this sport is unlike anything I can describe. The adrenaline I get from being in the air is addictive. Performing and hitting a solid stunt are my favorite feelings in the entire world and I would love to take my experience to the next level! Being on a collegiate team would be a dream come true. I want to build bonds with my teammates, coaches, and set an example for students at the university. I am extremely competitive and would work just as hard or harder than the person standing next to me. To be considered for a spot on something as significant as a college cheerleading team would be an honor!
