My name is Emily Bracken and I have been playing field hockey since the age of 7 and have loved it from the start. Over the past 9 years of playing, field hockey has helped me grow as a person by increasing my confidence, understanding the importance of being a strong leader, and always working hard for the team. Besides field hockey I enjoy gymnastics and play soccer. These sports -as well as keeping me fit - allow me to apply the skills that I have learned into field hockey. Soccer has certainly helped me with my game sense, strategy and team playing, while gymnastics has helped me to take constructive criticism to improve my own personal skills.
At University I want to receive a strong, scientific degree that will set me up for the future allowing me to have options in following a career that I am passionate about. I also love playing field hockey at a competitive level and feeling part of a team. I believe that it is important to have a good balance between academics and athletics. I have had a lot of practice with this since I play sports a minimum of five times a week while maintaining my grades, keeping up with homework, making time for friends and family, and volunteering in the community. I have had to be organized and disciplined to continue to deliver my high grades and I know from experience that this takes dedication, commitment and of course focus.
I am a strong candidate for your team because I will always work hard for you, the team and myself and I want to continue to learn and improve as a player. I want to learn, and I feel I am easy to coach taking constructive criticism and applying it to my game. I am committed and dedicated to both my academic and field hockey success and have a strong work ethic. I know the importance of team and I want to belong to something where I know I can actively be part of creating a successful future.
