My name is Bavneet Hothi. Thank you for taking the time to look at my page!
When I first began playing field hockey, I was not a fan of the sport. Not because of the technicality of the sport itself, but rather the title that came with being new. Being thrown in a pool full of amazing athletes was difficult, but not impossible.
I worked hard to be a teammate that my team could rely on and by my second year of playing hockey, I was selected for a U15 provincial team! The year after that I was selected for the main team, won gold in the National Championships and attended a Talent Identification Camp for potential athletes who could play nationally. My ability to stay calm under pressure, notice gaps in the team's defence, and creating breakaways aided in our team's success. The following year, I was selected for an U18 provincial team and was one of the youngest in the group.
Not only have I improved as an athlete, but I have maintained a 4.0/4.0 gpa since Grade 8. I am enrolled in honours and AP classes to enrich my learning experience while staying engaged with the community through varsity sports such as basketball and extracurriculars such as Student Council, Break The Divide, and various other clubs.
I worked hard to get to where I am. Consistently putting in hours outside and gaining knowledge from peers and coaches to get better, I did what I needed to do to improve tremendously over the course of five to six years. I am highly motivated and am willing to put in effort to reap reward. I believe that playing hockey in University will allow me to experience a world many dream of. I cannot wait to open this new chapter in life, creating connections that will last a lifetime.
