My name is Eileen O’Brien, and I attend San Pasqual High School in Escondido, California. I was first introduced to field hockey in 5th grade and have been playing ever since. My 8th grade year is when it really clicked for me. I recruited 8 girls from my middle school who had never played field hockey to join and play competitively in a middle school league. Our team went undefeated and now 5 of those teammates are playing in high school. During my freshman year in 2020, I started as center defense. I was awarded “Most Improved Player” for San Pasqual’s Varsity team. In my sophomore year, I played almost every position and became starting center forward.
Field Hockey is not only my sport but my hobby, and when I’m on the field I put my all into every opportunity I get. I make sure to show how much I value my sport every chance I get on the field. I weight train 5 days a week in addition to my field hockey training. I am a student-athlete and keeping up in the classroom is just as important as keeping up on the field. My education is important to me. I understand that being a student-athlete requires commitment and dedication to my goals on and off the field. My goal is to make myself the best student and player I can be. I want to play field hockey at a collegiate level and to do that I will continue to better myself academically and physically every day.
