Hello my name is Zoey Stackhouse and I've been playing field hockey for three years at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, California. I play Defense, left and right. I've also been playing soccer for the past 8 years which gave me the experience to be an amazing member of my team. I love the camaraderie of my teammates. When I first played field hockey I fell in love with the sport. Stepping onto the field and feeling that adrenaline course through my body. My freshman year, I played offense and I scored two goals and then the coach put me in defense and that is where I found my passion. In the beginning I was worried because in soccer you don't use your hands and with field hockey I've got this big stick but it's amazing how quickly I adapted and it just became an extra appendage to my body. It's like muscle memory.
Astronomy and astrophysics are my passion. I excel in math and science which I transfer onto the field. Playing field hockey is all about the equations. It’s like the field is this large plane and the players are the points. This is also what makes me stand out from your average player. I take all my knowledge of the “how” and marry that with the “why” (to beat our opponents).
