Personal Statement

My love of field hockey began in 8th grade when I first heard about the sport from my mom, who played varsity field hockey in high school and club in college. I decided I wanted to give it a try and took advantage of the opportunity to join an indoor league in my area. I signed up after the normal registration date; because of this, I was placed on an all-boys team. The speed of the game combined with the heightened skill and competition that the boys offered allowed me to grow as a player and eventually prepared me for my very first outdoor high school season.

Throughout my high school career, field hockey has taught me much about dedication, leadership, and teamwork. Most importantly, I have learned how to successfully motivate myself and others. Coming from a small team in Colorado, where field hockey is not necessarily well-known, it can sometimes be difficult to feel as if you are truly making an impact with your program. Despite this, my team strived to do well and often surprised others with our positive attitude and relentless play. I am looking for a program with high academics and competitive play. My versatility, high field hockey IQ, and eagerness to learn will be a great contribution to any program!
