Skylar Mattice '23 Recruiting Profile

I have been involved in sports my entire life. I have played field hockey, lacrosse, basketball, track, and soccer, as well as competing in tae-kwon-do, gymnastics, and dance. I have always loved playing different sports year-round, however, my love for field hockey truly began to take over a few years ago. Field hockey has been my passion for a long time now. Every time I step onto the field all my worries seem to disappear as I am surrounded by my teammates whom I admire while competing in the sport I truly love. 

I have been on the varsity field hockey team for my entire high school career, but have been playing for five years. I consider myself fortunate to have played field hockey for so many years with fantastic coaches and great young women, who challenge and inspire me. Working together, I have learned the true meaning of teamwork and dedication. I am looking for a program that can challenge me both on and off the field. I believe that I have the drive and ambition to not only compete for a college team but also be successful in your program. I know that I have the ability to be a motivating force on your team.

As a student with a 4.0-grade point average and a varsity athlete, on both the field hockey and lacrosse teams, academics are very important to me. I am curious by nature and love to learn. Indeed my competitive nature applies to school as well. My academics have always been very important to me, I plan to finish top of my class and prepare myself further for college. I am very passionate about what I do, I need to be challenged, I need to succeed, and most importantly, I want to grow and expand my knowledge.
