Some might say that I came a little late to the sport of field hockey, but in my town, there is no youth field hockey program. Going into freshman year, I was a softball player and had never heard of the sport until my brother’s girlfriend told me about it. I attended a three-day camp that taught us the basic skills and I immediately fell in love.
I made the varsity team as a sophomore. During our first scrimmage my coach became frustrated with our lack of ability to score and told us that someone needed to step up. I got the chance to try center forward and ended up scoring twice. I’ve been playing that position ever since. This was the beginning of my breakout year. During my season I was named Female Athlete of the Week by the Meriden Record Journal, and I was a Top Female Performer for the Southington Observer twice. I was also named all-conference and all-state in only my second year playing organized field hockey.
I’m interested in studying Human Resources in college and am looking for a good match both academically and athletically. I’m a highly organized person and good at balancing school and sports. I’m looking for a competitive program where I can add value, hone my skills and continue to grow in the sport.
