My name is Nola Ryder and I'm in the class of 2023. I am a sophomore at Wilton High School. I have played club field hockey since 2016. My primary position is defense, however I am often called on to play midfield and can excel in that position as well.
I have loved field hockey since I started playing in third grade. I was an ice hockey player for 8 years and have played on a competitive co-ed club travel ice hockey teams . I feel my ice hockey skills have only helped improve me as a field hockey player. I like to attack and I am not afraid of the ball. I strive to improve my field hockey skills at every opportunity I can.
I consider myself a fighter. I am also an athlete living with Type 1 diabetes. This has taught me to work even harder in the face of adversity and to not let anything stop me. Type 1 diabetes has made me a disciplined and driven athlete.
My goal is to play field hockey at the highest level I can. I am a team player and a hard worker. I strive every time I'm on the field to improve as an individual, so that I can help make my team the best they can be.
I have been lucky to have had coaches who believe in me and push me to my fullest potential.
When I'm not playing field hockey I volunteer as an apprentice at our local farm, Ambler. I am a Youth Ambassador for JDRF and have personally raised over $55,000 to help find a cure.
I look forward to becoming a part of a university that is the right fit for me.
