I am hoping to complete a college program that would allow me to work in marine sciences. I attended a marine camp this past summer and discovered that I am really passionate about ocean conservation and saving the animals. One of my career goals would be to get a job where I can help rehabilitate or care for marine animals. I have recently completed my Capstone project about sharks, and one of my counselors from that camp served as my mentor. I was able to go into my former elementary school and teach 4th, 5th and 6th graders about sharks and the importance of conservation. It was an amazing experience!
Regarding why I am a good candidate for a college team, I am a team player. I understand the game, and I think I am a leader on my current team. I am willing to work hard and always try to be a positive role model for the younger players. Although I have played field hockey since 7th grade, I did not become a goalie until my freshman year of high school. My team did not have a goalie, and I sort of fell into the position. Now as junior I absolutely love it! I have started every varsity game except one in the past three seasons. I would like to continue to play in college because I just can not imagine walking off of the field for the last time and field hockey no longer being a part of my life! I love the team aspect, the competition and the thrill of making a great save.
