Personal Statement
I began playing hockey in Year 4, playing with plastic sticks and balls on a concrete playground during PE lessons. After being part of many sports teams, I began to realise my love of hockey was far greater than any other sport I had played in the years prior. I joined my local club, Buckingham Hockey, in year 6 and this is where my journey began.
Throughout the years I have progressed, starting from being selected for the county squad at U13 and adult league hockey at 14, to now playing with Buckingham ladies first team and being selected to trial for the U18 England hockey trials.
I love the ambiance of hockey, bringing both competitiveness and a community which supports me as I developed into the player I am today.
Throughout my development in hockey, I have set aspirations and goals for each season to push myself to being the best hockey player that I can be, for example last season I aimed to successfully use aerials in games which I now use successfully in school and club games having a significant impact in outlets from the D. Currently I am aiming my focus on academics and fitness throughout this time of Covid.
I am currently at Stowe school on a hockey scholarship in my final year and will graduate 2021 and I am applying for 2022. I am taking a gap year in which I hope to develop both my hockey skills and life skills through getting a work placement and travelling to experience the ambience of different countries.
