Personal Statement
As a dedicated student, hockey player and keen bass guitarist I’m seeking more responsibility and independence when moving on to college. I feel as if a program abroad would be a great experience for me and an oppotunity to showcase my talent competetively and improve along the way!
Since the start of 2023 I’ve been a strict study plan to prepare myself for my final exams in June, I havebeen forecast 7s, 8s and 9s for my 9 GCSEs with some of my best subjects being Religious Studies, English Language and Chemistry. I am focussing to ensure I can achieve and secure these grades and follow on to study Politics, Economics and Film Studies for my A-Levels.
Additionally, I am fortunate enough to have been representing Stowe as the number 1 goalkeeper for our England hockey schools Tier 1 league team for the past 2 years, we currently also hold the Midlands championship title and my coach has placed me as favourite keeper for the 2 seasons to come. In the midst of that, I have been in the England player pathway where I competed with the South Midlands squad. During my time at the Performance Centre, I did further trials to be a NAGS goalkeeper but narrowly missing out.
Being in such an experienced postion having trained and played senior competetive hockey the moment I turned 13, this has also allowed me to coach the Stowe year 9 goalkeepers passing on my knowledge and experiences including those I had living in The Netherlands for 2 years to hopefully aid their match play development. My main keeper I train has gone from a B team goalie to an A team keeper in less than a season.
Outside of these I enjoy following my passion for music and am learning the bass guitar through amixture of formal lessons and self-learning and have attained the rank of Lance Corporal with the RAF cadets at my school having participated in multiple rememberance parades. Following on with that, I have been learning to operate a glider and widen my avaition knowledge through trips to bases and airfields. A particular mention goes to a very interesting trip to the US Air force base in croughton where cyber security and global communication.
I believe I have a lot to offer to a squad as I am quite diverse in my activities and interests. I would love to have the oppotunity to compete in Division I college hockey!
