Personal Statement
The first time I picked up a hockey stick I was hooked. I didn't realize at that time how many wonderful memories I would make on the hockey field.
I am a people person and enjoy spending time with others while bring my bubbly energy and good vibes to the team. Team spirit is something I place high value on and I actively promote this in all the teams I represent. I am a coachable team player, which I think are all important qualities to bring to a squad.
As an individual I pride myself in being a good communicator and relating well to others. My previous experiences as team captain have provided me with leadership skills that can be applied to more than just being a traditional team captain and I have had great success in leading my team by example even when not captain. I do not like failure but I am not afraid of it and to learn from my experiences. I am always eager to learn while being challenged.
Hockey is my passion but I love sports in general. I have represented my school at A team level in Indoor and field hockey, waterpolo, netball, and basketball. I have previously played tennis at a provincial level and have been a competitive cross country runner. I must also be honest with the fact that I love sunshine and warm weather. I realise the US is massive, with many different climate pockets. I know I will thrive where the sun is shining on my back.
The hockey pitch is my true happy place though and has consistently been the environment where I have built lasting relationships and friendships. It has always helped to bring out the qualities I most value in myself.
