Personal Statement
My name is Junior Mzilikazi, and I am a 19 year old goalkeeper from Zimbabwe. Last year, I was selected to play for the U21 National Team. I live with both of my parents, my sister and my 4 brothers. During my free time I love to read and partake in public speaking and most importantly play hockey.
I am now looking into playing field hockey at the Division One and Two level in the Canada, and I would love to learn more about your program and if I might be a good fit for your needs and expectations.
My selection to play for the Zimbabwe Under 21 National Team was a great achievement. I got a chance to train and play with the older ladies just to boost my confidence and because of this my strengths and skills rose enormously.
Ever since I was introduced to field hockey in 6th grade, I have been working extremely hard and because of that I managed to improve my skills a lot more than expected. I am very open to correction and I have the urge to learn new things. I am extremely passionate about the sport and I have been playing field hockey for 9 years now.
In August 2019, I was selected to play at the Cape Town U18 festival at the age of 16 and my team and I came 4th out of 24 participating schools. In September 2019 I also played at the Golden Girls tournament, and I was the only goalkeeper with a clean sheet which was quite a huge achievement .
Playing hockey has become my passion and I love the sport immensely.
