Personal Statement

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to play field hockey. Since primary school my parents have been supportive of me and my desire to participate in a sport that I absolutely relish. Field hockey teaches me how important teamwork, dedication, commitment and hard work are in succeeding in life. The norm in our school is that grade 11 and 12 players are selected for the 1^st team, I have been privileged enough to play for our 1^st team since grade 10.  Although I am currently in grade 11, I have been elected as the captain for 2017 season. It makes me realize by working hard, having support, being a good teammate and believing in myself, I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

I want to study medicine or veterinary science, so I am looking for a program that will provide me with good academic preparation and help me athletically to be the best I can be. I am a student from South Africa but I believe I will be able to adjust to living far from home. I am a determined person, I work hard when I want to achieve something and I believe I have the leadership skills to make a good impact not only on the program but the people I hope to surround myself with.
