Personal Statement
My name is Lorenza Rubin, I am from The Netherlands and attend the American International High School in Den Haag; graduating class of 2022.
I have played Field Hockey (outdoor and indoor) since I was 6 years of age in The Netherlands and have a real passion for the sport! I am a starting player on the selection team at my club in Den Haag, The Netherlands called HGC. My primary position is midfield (both center or right) and I can switch to forward and/or defense.
I have a desire to study at a four year technical university in the United States to follow my dream of becoming an Engineer and/or Architect. I excel in technical based courses and also thrive in art and design based classes. To help achieve my goal of studying and living in the US, I transferred from Dutch High School (VWO level) to the American School of The Hague in order to become familiar and compliant with the American academic curriculum. I transitioned from a Dutch system to an all English (American) speaking environment and love it! To date, I have made honor role two consecutive years and I am averaging a 3.3GPA end sophomore year.
In the summer of 2016 and 2017 I attended hockey camps in the US to gain some experience of Field Hockey in America. I really enjoyed the competitiveness, drive and physical conditions!
I feel I could make a strong contribution to a top tier Field Hockey team. Both on and off the field; I am highly adaptable, disciplined and determined to succeed.
