Personal Statement
Hey there! I am Chloe Sherriff, a versatile attacking minded player from Wellington, New Zealand. I enjoy playing in the Midfield, but I often play in both the defensive & striker lines. Everyday I work towards becoming a better athlete on and off the field to try fulfil my aspirations of playing at a high collegiate level, when I graduate high school in November 2026 (intake fall 2027). On the field, my main strengths are my vision & ability to read the game, and I thrive off counter attacking opportunities. I pride myself on my excellent strength and fitness levels, and the positive energy I bring to team environments. I have strong leadership qualities, having captained the Lower North Island Thunder Team to winning the U16 New Zealand Super Challenge, as well as captaining the Wellington U16 Representative team. In my 2024 season, I played in both those teams, as well as being the youngest member of Harbour City Hockey Club Premier 1 Women, finishing 3rd in the Top Open Women's division in Wellington. I was awarded most promising women's player of the club. I have also played in my high school Queen Margaret College 1st Team in 2022, 2023 & 2024. This year as a sophomore I was awarded MVP. I work hard off the pitch in a school environment where I help lead & participate in many initiatives such as World Vision ambassador, Relay for Life, Young Enterprise, School Council, Duke of Edinburgh, as well as excelling in my studies, this year achieving NCEA Level 1, where I almost have Excellence Endorsement (the highest academic endorsement). Last year, I achieved a 4.0 cumulative GPA in the IB MYP program. Overall, I'm a hard worker, who pounces on opportunities and wants to compete to the best of my ability in all areas of my life. I would love to pursue my dreams of a collegiate athletic career in the USA, while studying an area of Business, a subject I have been top of my class in the past 2 years.
