My freshman year, I transitioned into a new high school and made a varsity team that had five seniors who had already committed to Division 1 field hockey programs. It was initially a little intimidating for me as a new freshman, but I worked hard in every practice and game and developed the speed and skills needed in the high school game. That year was a time of major growth for me as a player. I transitioned from playing a midfield position to defense, which required me to learn new skills and strategy, and was a major switch for me. Despite the high level of talent on the team, I started at least a third of the games and played in every game including the state championship. It was a challenging and fun year, and required a new level of commitment and dedication.
Over the past two years, my love for the game has continued to grow and I have worked even harder to get in shape and develop my skills so that I am ready to play at the next level. I now start at defense and during club season, I also run on the track team to help me stay in shape and get faster. I would like to go to a college or university that will be competitive for me academically and athletically and that will help me grow as a player and student. I am a coachable player, have good sportsmanship, encourage others, am a team player, and hold myself and others to a high standard. I believe that I can play at a very competitive level and adjust well onto a skilled team in the future.
