My name is Kiersten “Kiki” Dinsmore, and I am currently going into my senior year(class of 2024) at Brunswick High School in Brunswick, ME. I am 5’5, 115lbs. Field hockey has been a huge part of my life ever since I first touched a stick at 4 years old and I’ve enjoyed learning the sport and the friendships it has fostered. In junior high I was beyond excited to be able to finally play on a real school team where I had immediate success. I have started every game since 6th grade and have consistently been the top scorer on my team. A key memory for me was being able to join our high school varsity team when I was in 8th grade for a varsity only practice. Now that I’m in high school, I’ve enjoyed volunteering with local youth field hockey programs to help inspire the next generation.
Due to my freshman year being canceled due to Covid we didn’t have an official season, no awards and no postseason. My sophomore season was my first real season and I helped lead my varsity team to our first ever home playoff game and was named to the underclassmen First Team for class A. This season, I’m a varsity starter and am the ball position starter. If you were to ask my team my top skills and benefits, they would likely reference my kick off drives, scoring technique, and coachability.
Within the last couple of years I have attended numerous field hockey clinics and showcases including the Super Sixty showcase located in PA. Alongside high school field hockey I have also played for Maine Styx on their U14 and U16 level 4 teams. Additionally I played at the November 2021 Shooting Stars tournament in PA with the Maine Styx U16 travel team .
In addition to my success on the hockey field, I hold the school record in the 1-mile race walk ranking as high as 7th nationally while simultaneously starting on the high school lacrosse team. I also qualified and participated in the 2 mile racewalk at the 2021 Junior Olympics in Jacksonville, FL.
I have a passion for sports photography, yearbook, and being a guidance office assistant. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA and have taken Honors Geophysical Science, Honors US History, and Honors Biology. I was also awarded a “Gold Key” through the nationally recognized Scholastic Art and Writing Awards recognition program. I am hoping to continue my college career at an athletically competitive school where I can bring my skill, intensity, and coachability while exploring my academic curiosity.
