Hi! My name is Mariya Helmbold. I am a junior at Audubon High School in New Jersey. I have played sports since I was 5. I come from a softball family, and I’ve played softball for 11 years. In 7th grade I transferred schools to Audubon Jr/Sr High School. My school didn’t offer softball to the Junior High. Since my parents wanted to me sign up for a sport, I decided to try something new. The sport I chose was field hockey. I took a liking to field hockey. My Junior High coaches really motivated and encouraged me to stick with field hockey. My freshman year I started on the varsity team. I’ve been on the varsity team all three years in high school. My team is like having another family. This past summer my team joined a summer league to help improve as individuals and as a team. My Junior Year field hockey season just ended, and I was awarded First Team All-Conference - Defender.
Despite being an athlete, I’m a very dedicated student. I put a lot of time and effort into my schoolwork. I’ve maintained high grades since middle school. I give 100% of myself in life, school, and sports. At times I can be my hardest critic, but it helps me strive to push myself to achieve the goals I set. I am looking for a college that is the best fit for me both academically and athletically.
I am a passionate, dedicated, and competitive player. I am hoping that I can play at a collegiate level and bring my passion and competitiveness to college field hockey. I look forward to playing with other athletes that share my drive, commitment, and passion for Field Hockey. Thank you!
