Hi, my name is Julia. I have just finished my sophomore year at West Essex Regional High School located in North Caldwell, NJ with a 4.4 GPA. I take my academics very seriously and I am hardworking and determined both on and off the fields. I am a two-sport athlete playing at the Varsity level as a starter for both Field Hockey and Softball. I never give up and always look for the ball on the field. In field hockey, some of my goals are to score with a reverse chip, lift the ball more in games and work on my stick skills. I also want to work on my shooting accuracy on corners. I have been playing field hockey for 4 years, and last year West Essex won the Tournament of Champions against Eastern, a very elite nationally ranked team. I am also a member of New Heights Field Hockey Club, this year we won the NITs and the Regional Club Championships. We are playing in the NCC's in July. I am a midfielder, as I have a very strong drive. I can also play a offense and defense as effectively as a midfielder.
I have been playing Club Softball for over 8 years. Softball has already offered me so many amazing opportunities and has connected me with fantastic coaches and players who I look up to as role models. I am the lead off batter and stating shortstop and I am also a switch-hitter, being able to hit the ball effectively both righty and lefty. I've earned many recognitions in the past two years (First Team All Conference/Group/Region) and Honorable Mention All State. My ultimate goal is to play softball at the college level. I am not overly concerned of the division level; I just want to be on the field playing competitively at the best of my ability in terms of academics and athletics. I am willing to put whatever it takes in becoming the best softball player I’m capable of being. I fully understand that academics are the most essential element of college but I believe that being part of a team creates life long bonds, teamwork, and character. Throughout my high school years I have always tested myself with difficult classes, taking mostly AP classes intermixed with some honors. I believe that the only way to get better at something is by challenging and pushing yourself to the limit. This is why I find both field hockey AND softball so appealing. Softball is not an easy game. It’s a game of precision, timing, and focus, just like field hockey. I liken those things to how I pursue my life goals - with precision and focus. It is my desire to play softball or field hockey at the college level.
