Hi, my name is Ella Ciesielski and I am a 2025/2026 Goalkeeper. I have been named the 'best goalie' in Canada for 2023 and ranked among the top 11 players in Canada for 2023. In March 2024, I played for Team Canada in Wales and Scotland in a mini-series, where we tied the series. In July 2024, I was chosen as the only goalie for Team Ontario, where we competed in Surrey, BC. I was named captain and won the 'best goalkeeper in Canada' award, making me the only goalkeeper in Canada to win the award two years in a row.
For the past three years, I have led my high school varsity field hockey team to victory (in a shootout in 2023), played club field hockey, been the top goalie in Nationals, and have been requested to be the goalie for Team Canada.
I have been playing field hockey for three amazing years. The minute I stepped onto the field for the first time, I knew I wanted to play the game at a higher level. I not only love the game of field hockey but also enjoy the training, look forward to practice every week, and help coach my varsity team.
In the 2023 National tournament, I was the starting goalie and led our team to a second-place victory in Canada. It was there that I was named the 'best goalie' and 'top 11' player.
In the 2024 National tournament, I was again the starting goalie. Unfortunately we didn’t get the outcome we hoped for, but it was an honor to play alongside amazing, talented, athletes. I was honored to be named the 'best goalie in Canada' once more.
Outside of field hockey, I enjoy playing the guitar and piano, painting and sketching, singing, and working out. As a player, I am very vocal and always communicating with my team, helping them to find the open passes, where other players are positioned, and where we need to challenge ourselves. I am light on my feet, have quick reactions, and am aggressive in the net. I am a team player who always finds opportunities to help build togetherness within my teams.
I am looking to continue my field hockey career through an academic program such as 'Recreation, Sport, and Tourism.' My goal is to combine my learning with my passion for field hockey and sport to become a coach in the future.
