Personal Statement

From a young age, I've been engrossed in sports, connecting strongly with field hockey when first introduced to me upon entering 7th grade.  I quickly gained recognition for my abilities and was taking on the role as goalie during the off-season in middle school to support the high school program.  I worked exceptionally hard to build up my skills and develop as a goalkeeper, attending goalie camps individually and with my team, engaging in goalie-specific clinics, and making myself available to my high school team for winter league and all off-season tournaments.  What I feel is unique about myself, and helps differentiate me from other goalies, is my work ethic and ability to excel in a multitude of areas.  In addition to playing field hockey, I have been a member of USA swimming for the past 6 years, with overlapping of the sports, many times occurring in the same day during the off season for field hockey.  I also am first chair clarinet in Concert band with an invitation to represent my high school in Europe 2017 for American Music Abroad, actively participate in French Honor Society, and have a 4.0 grade point average.  All that I have achieved has been through hard work, dedication, perseverance, and, at times, failure, which is essential for forward growth.

I realize that I do not come into this process with club experience; however, due to my commitment and dedication, I earned my Varsity spot half way through my Freshman year, led my team to two off-season tournament wins, proudly defended the goal for my high school team during our undefeated summer league, and helped anchor a successful 2016 season my Sophomore year all the way to the District finals.

I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically, as well as, academically and can continue to push me to succeed both on and off the field. Each season my coach introduces a new motto to the team.  This years' motto has influenced me in all aspects of my life and I truly believe that for growth one must "suffer the pain of hard work or suffer the pain of regret."

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
