Dear Prospective Coach,
My name is Alxyandra Flick (Class of 2023). I am a dedicated student-athlete, who takes great pride in being coachable, and in being one of the hardest workers both and off the field or court. I have always been a three-sport athlete. But, after years of playing soccer (and earning all-conference soccer honors), I made a decision in the summer of 2021, to transition to field hockey. I immediately fell in love with the sport. While it may seem strange that I only just picked up a stick in June going into my junior year of high school, I did so with the encouragement and support of my mother (who is in her 40s and still plays in a FH league), the ability to transfer my skills from other sports to quickly adapt to the game of field hockey and a high degree of overall strength/fitness. In the short time that I have been playing, I have maximized every opportunity to better all aspects of my game. This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to train with a former Olympian, and then in my first field hockey camp just a month into picking up a stick, I made the camp all-star team. Weeks later, I earned a starting mid-field position on my high school team. I started each game of the season, and was also chosen to play all 5 of our team's overtime games (reduced to 7v7). After our season concluded, I earned first-team league honors (PHAC), as well as first-team honors for our area newspaper (Press-Enterprise). I was our team's second-leading scorer, as well. Aside from stats, I believe I brought intensity, drive and a contagious winning attitude to our team.
On weekends, non-game days, and throughout the summer months, I train at a local fitness facility taking 5 am HIIT/power-lifting classes prior to the school day. Lifting has become an additional hobby to me, and it has provided an opportunity to continue to work on other aspects that help me improve as an athlete, and as a person. I am also continuing to take advantage of any opportunity I can to develop additional aspects of my field hockey game.
In my final years of high school, I hope to maintain my 4.0 GPA, and graduate in the top 10 of my high school class. After high school, my goal is to earn a degree in business/marketing and hopefully, have the opportunity to play field hockey (or softball) at the collegiate level.
