My name is Kayla Joyce, and I am a class of 2025 field hockey goalie with a 4.3 GPA and a passion for Field Hockey. I am excited to be committed and accepted to Northwestern University for the Fall of 2025!
I currently play for Pittsburgh Venom Field Hockey's U19 NIT Team, FHL U19 NCC Team (Spring), and as the Varsity Goalie for North Allegheny High School.
In 2024, I completed my HS career with 611 career saves, 0.89 sv%, Fall season saves of 300, 0.88 sv% (my second highest), and was named 1st Team All-State for Pennsylvania and 2024 All-WPIAL All Star. I was also honored to receive the North Allegheny Defensive MVP for the third time and North Allegheny Scholar Athlete Award for the 4th time. In addition I was named 2024 HS Player to watch by the Field Hockey Analyst.
In 2023, I was named one of the All-WPIAL 3A All-Stars and Defensive MVP for my high school. I made 311 saves this season, with a 0.901 SV% which is the 5th highest recorded by NFHS. I was listed 4 times in the NFHS record book as a result, once for saves in a season and three times for saves in individual games (NFHS Field Hockey Records). I was also 1 of 4 athletes across all sports at North Allegheny to be selected to attend the WPIAL Sportsmanship Conference.
I was recently ranked by Max Field Hockey on their Watch List as one of the Top 150 Players (15 goalies) for the Class of 2025 (attended the Max FH Top 150 Invitational) and was selected for the 2023 Nexus U18 National Championship in Virginia Beach.
In 21/22 my Venom indoor team won our U16 NITQ tournament via a shoot-out, during which I did not let in a single goal. We followed this with a 1st place win at the Winter Indoor Tournament at Spooky Nook, during which, I had a full tournament shutout.
We then moved onward and upward to the USAFH National Indoor Tournament, where we earned 3rd place in Pool C - our highest ranking in club history - finishing 15th in the country. I saved 32 goals alone against our toughest competitor, the WC Eagles, holding the eventual champions to a 2-pt spread. Over the course of the NIT tournament, I saved 90 goals across 5 games.
I have been honored several times with team awards: North Allegheny 2021, 2023 & 2024 Defensive MVP mentioned above, USAFH NIT Team MVP, and Four-time North Allegheny Scholar-Athlete Award.
