Hello Future Coach!
I’m Caleb Jones, from Gilbert, Arizona. I will be starting my Senior year in the fall of 2020. I would be honored to get an offer to play at the next level. I do not want this next season to be the last year I get to play. Football so far has been my life's work. I am looking forward to enjoying college life and working on my future career. The biggest deciding factor when I choose the college to play for will be if they have an engineering school.
I started playing flag football when I was 5, because my mom said "I had too much energy”. Well, flag football didn’t last long; I kept getting penalties for being too rough. I was playing in a church league ran by a former CFL player, Larry Kerychuk. He called my mom and talked her into letting me play on one of his tackle teams. I was very fortunate to learn the fundamentals of the game by coaches who had all played at the college or professional level. The church league was not very competitive, but the skills that I acquired prepared me to play at a higher level. I left the church league, and joined a team in the American Youth Football (AYF). My first season in AYF I was on a team that was new to the league. We were an underdog team; the new kids on the block, but we didn’t let that deter us. We went on to the win the State Championship played in the ASU Sun Devil's Statium. Then went to Florida to play in the AYF National Championship. I continued playing for AYF and finished out my 8th grade year with another trip to Florida to play in the Nationals on the Phoenix AYF All Star team, taking 3rd in the nation. It was an amazing experience getting to play against teams from all over the country.
I am a versatile player having played many different positions throughout my years in the game. My primary positions are running back and linebacker. I played both the fall and spring seasons for all my years of youth football. In the off season I do speed and agility training well as weight lifting. I have attended several camps, including UCLA, Boise State, University of Utah, University of Oregon, Washington State, Texas A&M, Baylor University and Trinity University. In the spring I am on the Track and Field team. I run the 100m, 200m and 4X100 relay. I have been in track & field for 5 seasons now. My relay team placed 6th in State last track season.
I have been researching many different colleges and universities and found so many options. I know one of my biggest challenges ahead will be having to pick just one. I hope you enjoy my profile and film footage. I look forward to meeting you as my future coach.
Sincerely,
Caleb Jones, #29
