I am not, by nature, a gifted athlete, and I had to work hard for every position I ever earned. I have found that my work ethic, determination, and perseverance gives me an advantage and allows me to contribute to any team that I am a part of. I have leadership qualities that I believe surpass my age, mainly due to my over 10 years experience through Boy Scouts and over 10 years of youth football. I strive to be an effective servant-leader where I work with my teammates to reach our team’s full potential. My teammates and I work well together, and I have assumed a leadership position on every team I have played on.
In school and on the field, I work to form close relationships with my teachers and coaches, working hard to earn their confidence and trust. I consistently give my coaches and teammates my full effort. I started my football career playing linemen on both sides of the ball, where I first learned how to block and tackle, and I have earned my way to skill positions such as long snapper, linebacker and running back. At 10 years old, I taught myself to long snap because my team needed one. I work hard to excel in the classroom, and this is reflected in my high GPA and test scores. Overall, I aim to be the best that I can be in all aspects of my life including academics, sports, community service, and family.
I hope to attend a college where I can study Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Cyber Operations. The United States military academies appeal to me due to their discipline and structure, but I am also interested in ROTC programs at other universities. I strongly believe in service to country, and I hope to be able to serve in the military after college. Through my Eagle Scout Service Project, which was an information kiosk for the 5th Marine Regiment’s memorial garden on Camp Pendleton, California, and other community service activities, I have formed close relationships with U.S. Marine Corps officers, retired veterans, and military support organizations. These experiences have heightened my respect for the military and have reinforced my desire to serve.
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors and working with my hands. I have always been interested in electronics, computers, film-making, science, and STEM activities. I strongly believe in the principle of “learn by doing” and enjoy learning new things through hands-on experience. Through Boy Scouts, I have found ways to share my interests and teach others in a stronger capacity than most kids my age can. I led my troop as Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) for a year, where I managed over 50 scouts, was the senior scout leader at all campouts, and planned all of our activities in conjunction with our scoutmaster. I have had to interact with everyone from elementary school-age kids to parents to U.S. Marine Corps Officers. I currently serve my troop as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster where I work with our Troop Committee, advise our current SPL, teach new scouts, and give back to my community.
I will always bring my best effort to any team, and respect my coaches while being the best teammate I can.
