I am a 6' 1" 240 pound long snapper from Bakersfield, California. I completed my high school career with a 3.86 cumulative GPA, having taken numerous AP and honors classes. I have an ACT score of 28 and combined SAT scores of 1660. After spending my senior year (2011) pursuing my goal to become a college long snapper, I made a decision. I wasn’t going to be satisfied with just becoming part of a college program as a snapper, I wanted to become one of the best. As a result of this decision I have set aside all athletic and academic offers and moved at the end of May 2011 to Arizona to work out full-time with Coach Ben Bernard's Arizona Elite Long Snapping for one year. I’m snapping 5 to 6 days a week (some days double) and lifting 4 days a week. Since June I've gone from 220 to my current weight of 240 and have lost a pant size. My 2 to 3 days a week of yoga and plyometric training are proving to be some of the best recent additions to my schedule. Starting in late January I will be working with our retuning NFL snappers on foot speed, blocking, and snapping. My time with them in the past has proven to be invaluable and with all the work I’ve done I expect their help to push me over the top. I continue to workout everyday with a passion for success and I can see that my goals will be a reality in 2012.
I am currently a 5 star snapper for the class of 2012 on Kohl’s Kicking. Comments from my combines are “Harrison is an accurate long snapper with great mechanics and snap velocity. He averages a snap time of .75 seconds from 14 yards. Harrison's snaps are clean and the rotation is crisp. His short snaps are very consistent and easy to handle with pinpoint location. Harrison has good footwork when it comes to protection left and right and is able to snap the ball with great accuracy. Harrison gets good depth on his kick and also has a good first step off the LOS. He shows tremendous dedication and drive towards the craft of long snapping. A true student.”
I was named Kern County Scholar Athlete of the week. I am a lifetime member of the California Scholastic Federation, earning the gold seal at graduation, and was on the honor roll all semesters as well. I have logged over 300 service hours, and was a mentor to freshman my senior year.
I worked part time as assistant athletic director in a community outreach program for youth 1st-6th grades while in high school. I played football since the 6th grade as a center, on the defensive line, on special teams, and chosen as an all-star starting center. I was co-captain for my freshman and sophomore teams as well as captain of my team in my junior year.
I have overcome a great deal of adversity in my life that has helped to define who I am today. I am a man of high values and strong character. I am not afraid of hard work and not discouraged by prolonged effort. I am motivated to succeed and focused on my goal to continue playing football while pursuing my college education. I am resolved to make this a reality. I want to attend a college that has a challenging educational environment that allows me to also play football at the highest competitive level. I want to be part of an institution that reflects and develops my values and goals. I believe that I have been and will continue to have a major impact on my school and team.
