My name is Garrett Strohmaier and I am currently a Junior. I attend Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California, which is an all-boys Roman Catholic college preparatory school. I will be entering my senior season and my sixth year playing tackle football. I aspire to play at least four more years of football at the collegiate level. I am a very hard and dedicated worker who sets the bar at the highest level possible. I have been a team captain for every one of my high school seasons and strive to be a captain and leader in the classroom. I currently hold a 4.40 GPA.
For every year of playing high school, I have been a team-captain and have won the award of Most Outstanding Lineman of the team. This past summer, I attended several camps to better my skills and improve overall as a player. At the Sacramento/Stockton National Underclassmen Combine, I won the OL MVP and an invite to the National Underclassmen Combine Ultimate 100 West Camp. At the NUC U100 West Camp, I was invited to the National Underclassmen Top Prospect Camp. I attended the NUC Five Star West Showcase Featuring Rivals.com Junior Day on March 31, 2012, and was ranked as the #17 player overall out of about 100 players. The recruiting scouts commented: ""Garrett Strohmaier of Jesuit High in Calif. is an athletic offensive lineman. He showed great footwork and great pass posture." I was also rated as the #3 OL performer at the camp. I also attended the 2012 Oakland Nike Camp, and was taught by NFL All-Pro center and guard, LeCharles Bentley. This past year was a very successful one. I recorded over 40 pancake blocks and did not allow a sack, playing mostly at right tackle, but also on the left side, and even on the side that we ran the ball. I received my team's award as the 2011 Varsity Most Outstanding Lineman. Also, I was awarded 2nd Team All-Conference. My high school made the playoffs after a four-year drought. I have been named to the 2012 Pre-Season All-Northern California Team and the 2012 Pre-Season All-Metro Team.
I am currently six foot, four inches tall and weight approximately 290 pounds. I have recorded a 40 yard dash of 5.19 seconds and a shuttle time of 4.82 seconds at the NUC Combine. My bench press max is 350 pounds, and my squat max is 465 pounds. I also clean over 295 pounds and snatch over 220 pounds. I love the game of football with all of my heart, and I am very competitive individual. I put my all into everything that I do and strive to be the best at it. I will focus this off season on continuing to get stronger and faster. I will attend several camps, combines, and showcases to improves my skills and compete with some of the best players in the nation. I want you to know that I am a very versatile player. I have played both tackle and guard, and can also play center. This past year, I played offensive tackle, but there is a possibility I will play guard my senior season. I would love to play any of the offensive line positions in college, and feel I can excel in college, no matter what position I play on the offensive line.
Ever since I can remember, I have had the dream of attending college and playing football. I have always wanted to be successful in anything I do, from sports and co-curricular activities to academics. This past year, I received the 2011 Jesuit High School General Excellence Award. It is important to me that I attend a college where I can grow physically, intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally. I am from California, however I have no problem attending a college outside of my state. The size of a university or whether it is public or private does not matter to me nearly as much as the school's academics. My goal and dream is to play football for a Division 1-A or AA program, however I would also love to play football at a Division 2, 3, or NAIA school. Many academic fields interest me. I hope to major in Biochemistry, Genetics, Law, or Business.
Thank you coach for taking time out of you busy schedule to evaluate me!
