Ivan Garza '27 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Ivan Garza I am 14 years old, I’m in 8th grade and weigh 150 pounds. I play QB and WR.

I’m here to play college football. i have always wanted to play football. When I was a kid, I never thought going pro would be my dream, but now it is. I never thought I would have a chance to play college football but after many days and hours of practicing to become better, I now believe it is possible and may have a chance. When I would tell people that I wanted to go pro they just looked at me and would laugh in front of my face. They would say I’m wasting my time. I would believe them, and I had stopped practicing for a while. 

I was raised in a single parent home, so I never met my father. When my mother got married the situation was worse. My family would fight a lot and I didn’t know what to do, I was a scared little kid so I would just go to my room and wait until they were done fighting. I didn’t want to feel like that anymore so I would spend my time out in the field practicing. When I started noticing all the practice was paying off, I forgot about everything else. It was just me, the ladder, the cones and the football. Now that i have played for a team I absolutely love it. 

Being on the team and the friendships we all have together makes me realize playing football is what I want to do with my life. I have the dedication and determination to keep pushing to do what it takes to get to my dreams. I feel I am a great leader and team player. My family situation is better now, and they support me and push me to keep going. I’m also lucky to have support from my friends and coaches. I’d be the first person in my family to make it to college and with this opportunity with NCSA I feel blessed and grateful and hope to see where this journey takes me.
