I am the oldest in my family; looking after my younger brother and sister has helped me gain responsibility. Through this, I’ve learned to be aware and to be accountable for not just myself, but to those that look up to me for guidance. By playing football, I’ve learned the value of leadership, hard work, and preparation.
When I was younger, I played soccer for eight years. While I had strong soccer skills and footwork, I lost interested in the game and I needed another sport to play. Being good sized, I decided to play football and I’ve been playing since 7th grade. Football immediately captured my interest and I’ve loved it ever since.
Through playing football the last six years, I’ve learned that I can do whatever I set my mind to. Through hard work and dedication, I’ve become a better player and accomplished skills I never thought I could do. I also realized that working hard pays off and that has helped me not only improve on the field, but in my school work as well. Football has shown me that I am a strong leader, and that my attitude and my leadership can make a difference.
One obstacle that football has helped me overcome is my ego. I’ve realized that not everything revolves around me, especially in football. Football is a team sport and I’ve learned to put my team above myself; this has also encouraged me to think about others more in all aspects of my life.
My goals for my senior year are to finish this year with a 4.0 gpa and to be the first person in my family to go to college. Going to college will be a great example for my younger brother and sister. In college, I plan to major in the medical field in order to become a physical therapist or physical trainer.
As a person, I am known for being very charismatic and my positive mood is often infectious. People know they can count on me because I’m reliable and dedicated to my responsibilities. Over the last few years, I’ve realized that I the ability to be influential and I’ve learned to use that to be a positive influence on those around me.
