Dear Prospective Coach,
Hello, my name is Aiden Meyer and I am a 2021 graduate of Hughson High School in Hughson, CA. While at Hughson High I was a 3 sport athlete at Hughson High School playing football, basketball and baseball. Unfortunately the pandemic occurred during my Senior year of high school. The Fall of 2020 no high school sports were allowed, but that did not stop my friends and I continuing with our own workouts and practices to stay in shape and to be ready to play when allowed. The spring of 2021 sports were finally allowed to be played in our county. My high school we were only allowed to play 5 games due to Covid. We went 5-0. Even though it was not a full season of 10+ games, we were wiling to take what we could get to play one more game for our families, high school and our teammates. No playoffs allowed in California either. That was a shame because we would have gone farther than we did last year. 2020-2021 was going to be our season.
My first exposure to organized team sport was soccer and T-Ball at 4 years old. But it wasn’t until I was old enough to play youth tackle football at 7 years old is when I just knew that football was my favorite sport to play. I continued to play youth football for the next 6 of the 8 years. I played Quarterback for 4 years, TE for 1 year and Left Guard for 1 year. During the summer of 2017 before my Freshman year I attended a local community college for the Nate Costa QB Camp. As a Freshman I set out a goal to not only get moved up to JV, but to also be the starting QB. Well, I was able to accomplish that goal and lead my JV team to a 7-3 for the season for our Trans Valley League.
During the summer of 2018 I attended UC Davis QB camp and Cal Berkeley’s Skills camp. As starting JV QB with the help of my teammates and coaches we went 7-3 for another season. Our Varsity team made playoffs and I was asked to move up to start and play QB. Even though that game resulted in a loss, I felt extremely honored to be asked and very appreciative of the opportunity. When my football season ended that Fall I started working out with a private QB coach at Panelli Passing Academy.
My Junior year, I earned the position of starting QB. I worked really hard this past year in the weight room and with my QB coach in order to accomplish this goal. With this, I helped my team in the 2nd round of D6 playoffs. We ended the season 5-7 as a team. I was able to lead my Trans Valley League in passing yards with 2235 and was 2nd in rushing yards as a QB with 479.
I am currently in my 2nd semester at Merced College in Merced, CA. I am also on the Blue devils Football where I decided to redshirt my 1st season to get a better perspective and understanding of college football. Even though I was dressed out on the sidelines with my teammates for the last season I was able to learn and still grow as a player. In this past off season I continued to work out with some of my teammates and my QB coach Panelli. I feel like I have grown stronger physically and mentally as a quarterback. I, not only want to bring success to my teammates and coaches, but myself too by getting a college education and playing the greatest game known.
I love being part of this brotherhood and want to be in it for as long as humanly possible.
